HopgoodGanim Lawyers is proud to have partnered with Dr Lachlan Robb from Queensland University of Technology Law School and Ryan McCall from Zerocap in preparing a submission in relation to the Regulating Digital Asset Platforms Proposal Paper, released to the public on 16 October 2023.

The Treasury announced that the Australian Government plans to introduce a set of rules and regulations for companies that offer access to, or store digital assets on behalf of Australians and Australian businesses. This framework aims to establish a new financial product, set minimum standards, and bring digital asset platforms under Australia's financial services framework and licensing system.

HopgoodGanim's key contributors in the submission include Tim Edwards, Luke Dawson, Tom Mirolo-Lynam, Jonah Farry and James Lindsay.

We welcome clear regulation that provides all interested Australians with clarity and certainty as to the treatment of digital assets going forward.
