HopgoodGanim Lawyers is pleased to announce the promotion of 25 practitioners, including four new partner appointments, effective 1 July 2023.

Partner appointments

The four partner appointments include three internal promotions of Aaron Alcock, Anthony Pitt and Tim Edwards, as well as an external appointment of one of Australia’s pre-eminent mining and petroleum lawyers, James Plumb

“Each of these practitioners continue to deliver exceptional outcomes to our clients. We are proud to recognise their significant contributions, and it is an exciting time at HopgoodGanim as we begin our next phase of growth,” said Managing Partner elect Luke Mountford, who assumes the firm leadership role effective 1 July.

New partner James Plumb is a lateral hire and joins the Resources and Energy practice on 1 July 2023. James’ strong reputation in the oil and gas sector complements the firm’s existing strengths across major projects, including in fossil fuels, renewables, hard rock mining and critical minerals.

Aaron focuses on resolving disputes involving resources and energy projects, property, technology and intellectual property. His practice extends to contract disputes, trade practice actions, property disputes, leasing disputes and mortgage disputes in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts.

Anthony specialises in property-related litigation. His clients include property owners and developers, landlords, manufactured home park owners and bodies corporate. Anthony is regarded as a leading Queensland legal advisor to the manufactured home parks and land lease communities sector.

Tim is experienced in all types of litigation and disputes, insolvency, and the emerging area of digital assets. He advises businesses of all sizes working in or interacting in the digital assets space – particularly in his specialty area of dispute resolution. He also assists clients with negotiating significant contracts and provides regulatory advice.

Female lawyers represent the majority of HopgoodGanim’s internal promotions, with 14 female lawyers promoted, including seven female lawyers promoted to special counsel, five to associate and two to senior associate, effective 1 July.
