HopgoodGanim Lawyers has today announced the strategic acquisition of eight team members from a well-regarded Real Estate practice in Brisbane.

The acquisition will see three experienced practitioners, four paralegals and legal assistants, and a research clerk joining HopgoodGanim from Corrs Chambers Westgarth, from 3 February.

Leading the team are two property law and leasing specialists, including Greg Hassall, who will join the firm as a Consultant, and James Cooper, who will become a Partner at HopgoodGanim.

Matthew Biles will also be joining HopgoodGanim as a Senior Associate, along with Paralegals Anne Butler, Felicity Dopheide, Siobhan Bowden, Legal Assistant Danielle Marshall, and Research Clerk Bryce Kerr.

“We are delighted to welcome this exceptional team to HopgoodGanim,” said Luke Mountford, HopgoodGanim’s Managing Partner.

Their impressive track record and deep expertise in property and leasing will be a tremendous asset to the firm, particularly as we continue to handle the complex and evolving needs of clients in the Real Estate and Development sector.”

As a highly accomplished specialist in property law, Greg Hassall brings extensive experience acting for some of Australia’s largest developers, as well as advising local governments on complex property related matters.

James Cooper will be joining HopgoodGanim as a dedicated leasing specialist, with a broad range of property and commercial leasing experience, ranging from complex leasing arrangements, large-scale asset acquisitions and disposals, to end-of-term arrangements and disputes. James has acted for a variety of clients, including major corporates, financial institutions and telecommunication infrastructure providers across Australia.

“Expanding our Real Estate and Development capabilities has always been a key focus for us,” Mountford continued. “Along with the breadth of experience and talent this team brings, we are also excited about the opportunities provided by their leasing technology as we continue to deliver innovative solutions to our clients across Australia.”

HopgoodGanim Lawyers and Corrs Chambers Westgarth have been working closely to ensure a smooth transition of Greg and James’ practice, and a number of their clients, to the firm.

This acquisition is the first of several anticipated growth initiatives for HopgoodGanim this year, as the firm continues to sharpen its capability in its key priority markets and maintain its position as a leading full-service law firm.
