HopgoodGanim’s Intellectual Property and Technology team has assisted Actify Live Pty Ltd on their recently announced world-first technology, Life-Fi.
Life-Fi will be trialled on Queensland beaches in association with Surf Life Saving Queensland over summer.
The technology assists in breaking down the communication barriers between surf lifesavers and international tourists who made-up 41% of drownings on Queensland beaches in the last 10 years by providing real-time, critical information to beachgoers.
The Life-Fi technology is aimed at encouraging more people to swim between the flags by providing unlimited free Wi-Fi between the flags. Beachgoers of different nationalities will also be able to receive live surf patrol instructions including beach conditions, closures and safety tips, in their own language (currently, in up to seven languages), on their mobile phones, without requiring an app.
The HopgoodGanim team worked with the Actify team to protect their trade mark and broader IP portfolio, and to advise them on the services agreement with Surf Life Saving Queensland to roll out this world-first technology.
Partner, Hayden Delaney congratulates Actify Live on the agreement with Surf Life Saving Queensland.
Associate, Felicity Dunstone commented “It is great when our team gets to see technology like this rolled out for such an important cause, and I look forward to seeing it in action this summer.”
The HopgoodGanim team looks forward to supporting Actify as they continue to develop this technology.
